port warehouse re-cover

Rubb Buildings Ltd was tasked with re-covering a BVE type fabric building at the Port of Cardiff.

The port, which is located on the north side of the Severn Estuary, specialises in the handling of containers, steel, forest products, and bulk cargoes. It is well connected to the rail network and within easy reach of the M4 motorway.

Associated British Ports has invested significantly in the port, modernising infrastructure and providing clients with specialist storage solutions and handling equipment.

Rubb carried out an inspection of the original building, which was constructed in 1984, and produced a report on the steel framework and fabric.

Rubb then removed the existing PVC sheets and provided new PVC fabric cladding for the 25m wide x 123m long port storage building.

Additional new features also included two electric roller shutter doors measuring 8m wide x 5m high, retro fitting of additional steelwork to close three existing door openings and two single pedestrian access doors.
