Rubb provides emergency equipment storage facility
2nd April 2013
Rubb Buildings Ltd custom designed an emergency equipment storage facility in Wales to meet new guidelines issued by the HSE.
Magnox, owned by EnergySolutions, is the management and operations contractor responsible for 10 nuclear sites and one hydroelectric plant in the UK. Under contract to the site owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, the company is responsible for electricity generation at Wylfa and Maentwrog, defuelling at Chapelcross, Oldbury and Sizewell A, and the decommissioning of Hunterston A, Berkeley, Bradwell, Dungeness A , Hinkley Point A and Trawsfynydd.
After a incident at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant in Japan, The HSE Chief Inspector prepared a series of recommendations for a storage of additional emergence equipment, local to all UK nuclear installations. After dealing with Rubb in the past, Magnox knew Rubb Buildings would be the best company to provide a custom storage facility, which would be quick to erect and hassle free.
Sales Engineer Grant Davidson said: “The building has the standard galvanized steel frame covered in our light grey PVC with a white translucent fabric roof to gain maximum natural daylight transmission. This particular shelter was designed to meet the specific needs of the client. Working with Dawnus Construction Ltd on this project was a pleasure, which has proved to be a very successful emergency storage facility. Rubb Buildings Ltd, have worked on the vast majority of Magnox sites over the years and continue to do so. Our robust specifically designed structures meet not only UK building regulation standards but also strive to meet those of the end clients. “
