re sheet port warehouse

Rubb Buildings Ltd completed the relocation and re-sheeting of an NV type structure at Sheerness Port.

The original building was designed and constructed in 1987. Rubb worked with main contractor Hague Construction to complete the project on the Isle of Sheppey.

The 15m span x 27m long port building, with a leg height of 3m, was dismantled and moved to the Lappel Bank at Sheerness, which provides 190 acres of dedicated secure storage for vehicle imports and exports. The structure was moved to support changing operational needs.

Rubb delivered 475m² of new PVC sheeting and new lacing to complete the blue walls and gables and a translucent white roof, which allows natural light to illuminate the interior of the structure.

Two existing roller shutter doors measuring 3m high x 3m wide were installed in one sidewall and two wooden doors were replaced with two new access doors.

The ports of Sheerness and Chatham form the core terminals of Peel Ports’ London Medway cluster. The port sites handle a large array of cargo including forest products, steel, automotive and project cargo.
