£400m funding for school buildings announced

The government has announced plans for £400m investment in school buildings.

Schools, colleges, and sixth forms have been invited to bid for a share of the money, which is intended to encourage renovation and the construction of new school buildings. Replacing roofs, upgrading science labs, and building modern sports halls are among potential investment ideas.

Rubb structures represent a remarkable investment for schools. They are often priced below traditional buildings, while also lasting over 30 years complete with their original PVC sheets due to expert design and industry leading materials.

With these high-quality materials, low maintenance follows naturally. Due to the nature of fabric constructions, any unlikely damage to the PVC sheets can be easily repaired without any detriment to the structure beneath. Investing in a Rubb construction provides total peace of mind with quick, easy, and inexpensive repairs compared to the dated design of traditional structures.

Ipswich Academy took advantage of Rubb’s alternative solutions to build a custom-made sports hall. The split level 20m span x 70m long multi sports complex boasts a 7m high x 33m long playing area based on a four-court badminton hall. This area, situated at the rear of the building, can also be converted to one basketball court, one netball court, one tennis court or one 5-aside football pitch.

Ipswich Academy’s Estates and Facilities Manager, Steve Hawley, had this to say about the project:

“Rubb provided an ingenious solution for our new school; they were able to offer a design for a school sports facility that met our requirements and those of the planning authorities for a contemporary sports facility but which was affordable and deliverable within the original planning timelines. […] The sports hall offers light, airy spaces that inspire great physical activities and learning about health, sports and PE. The facility is widely used by the community and is creating a real impact within our community groups and is becoming a great source of community pride for us; it is a very popular venue. The sports hall has surpassed our expectations; it was delivered to time and budget and because of its innovative design, it is able to enhance the opportunities offered by Ipswich Academy. I would recommend Rubb to anyone considering investing in new sports facilities; it is a company that offers great solutions that in my experience are delivered on time and to budget.”

The Ipswich Academy project is just one of the solutions Rubb has provided for academic institutions. The University of York, LeAF Elite Athlete Academy, Paignton Sports College, St Mary’s C.E. Middle School, and many more chose Rubb to handle their sports hall needs.
