Doncaster NPAS Helicopter & Light Aircraft Hangar
Doncaster, UK
Doncaster, UK
The steel framed, fabric clad aviation structure measures 40.1m wide x 46.25m long and features a sliding door measuring 30m wide by 5m high.
Additional modular buildings have been fitted to right and rear of the building and include a number of offices and amenities. Rubb was tasked with ensuring the Rubb hangar connected effectively to the modular structures and that they were correctly positioned to allow a clear viewing area and access to the hangar.
The hangar will service Doncaster NPAS’s helicopters, as well as its four fixed wing Vulcan 68R aircraft. The light aircraft provide national coverage in England and Wales from their Doncaster base, with a range of 800 miles (1,300 km), remaining airborne for up to 8 hours.
Rubb worked with main contractor Kier Services to deliver the hangar for Doncaster NPAS.
NPAS provides air support to the 43 police forces of England and Wales from a network of 15 bases. NPAS helps keep communities safe by providing a 24/7/365 borderless service, in which the tasks posing the highest risk to communities are prioritised in line with local police and crime plans.
